Galt House Hotel Celebrates Music

Galt House Hotel is the Official Hotel for Abbey Road on the River. 

Abbey Road on the River is a must-do for Beatles fans.  It brings more than 50 bands to the Belvedere, right next to the Galt House Hotel May 22-26, 2014.  The Beach Boys will headline the festival in 2014. For booking information, click here.

Forecastle Festival is July 18-20, 2014. Outkast, Jack White, Beck, and Gary Clark, Jr. are the headliners. Dozens of other bands will take the stage at Waterfront Park. For booking information, click here.

Itchin' to Pick
It’s the Bluegrass jam session that will have you tapping your toes and joining in. The 8th annual “Itchin’ to Pick” brings together musicians and music lovers at Galt House Hotel March 21st and 22nd. This event draws approximately 1,000 fans and musicians alike over the course of the weekend with participants coming from a 150 mile radius of Louisville. Whether you are a music fan or musician, there's plenty to take in at this event.

Pickin’ starts anytime Friday afternoon, continues all day Saturday, and some folks will stay through Sunday afternoon. All pickers and fans are urged to bring their instrument and join in.  The music typically doesn’t stop until the early morning hours. Some folks set up in the lobby and other public areas around the hotel to jam. A $5 donation for the weekend is encouraged.  For more details, visit www.itchintopick.com.

 

National Geographic Recognizes the Kentucky Bourbon Trail as a Best Spring Trip

Looking for something off the beaten path for a Spring getaway this year? National Geographic says the Kentucky Bourbon Trail is one of the ten Best Spring Trips for 2013. Easter Brunch- April 20, 2014

Easter is bigger and better than ever this year with two Easter Brunches at Galt House Hotel that are sure to please all. Guests may choose from a family-friendly event in the Archibald-Cochran Ballroom that includes the Easter Bunny, face painting, and a petting zoo, or get a whole new spin on Easter Brunch 25 stories up at RIVUE Restaurant and Lounge. 

Easter Brunch in the Archibald Cochran Ballroom includes a fabulous menu with everything from light and fluffy Belgian waffles to golden-glazed ham. Kids will love the Easter Bunny, who is available for photos, so don’t forget your camera. The face painting and Easter-themed petting zoo will have them laughing with delight! Mother's Day- May 11, 2014

Galt House Hotel is stepping up its Mother’s Day Brunch and offering two choices to treat mom—RIVUE Restaurant and Lounge or in the Archibald Cochran Ballroom. Guests at either location will be invited to stroll through a botanical garden and they can bring a camera to take a family photo. Mothers will also receive a complimentary gift.

Mother’s Day Brunch at RIVUE Restaurant and Lounge offers an incredible view of the city and river from 25 stories up. Guests will be treated to a family-style dining that includes a leaning tower of waffles, fresh seafood and a bountiful buffet of roasted beef strip loin, herb-roasted chicken breast, an array of sides, as well as a fabulous assortment of desserts. Louisville's Expanding Bourbon Row

Louisville's Main Street is the new Bourbon Row.  With the Michter's Distillery, the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience and more going in, Main Street is being transformed.  Back in the 1800's and up until Prohibition, some 50 distillers called Louisville's Main Street home. Louisville Named Top U.S. Travel Destination for 2013

Travel site Lonely Planet named Louisville the Top U.S. Travel Destination for 2013 and describes the city as an offbeat cultural mecca. It cites the Bourbon Trail, unique shops and amazing restaurants in districts like NuLu and the Highlands. The publisher says he wanted to people to know more about the city beyond the Kentucky Derby and Louisville Slugger.  Read more.


Christmas at the Galt House Hotel Sparks Holiday Cheer!

The new multi-purpose 22,000 seat KFC Yum! Center, located downtown adjacent to the Galt House Hotel, is home to the University of Louisville Men's and Women's Basketball programs.
