GALT HOUSE HOTEL PLANS $2 MILLION DOLLAR, THREE-MONTH RENOVATION OF ARCHIBALD COCHRAN BALLROOM

What:
Galt House Hotel, the Heart of Louisville, looks to continue to secure its reputation as the best meeting and convention hotel in the region with a planned $2 million complete renovation of the 16,200+ square-foot Archibald Cochran Ballroom. Located in the hotel's RIVUE Tower, the ballroom overlooks the city's Belvedere Festival Plaza and is a vital piece of the hotel's meeting space inventory when selling to conventions considering the Galt House and Louisville. The renovation will start November 22, 2009 with completion expected by February 5, 2010.

Renovation Details
Louisville-based firms Hubbuch & Co. submitted the design and architecture plans for the project, while Brasch-Barry General Contractors, Inc. is the construction firm selected to bring the multi-million project to reality. "The most critical component of the construction is raising the ceiling to give the ballroom additional height," said Mary Moseley, President and CEO of The Al J. Schneider Co. "I am committed to the ongoing enhancement of our hotel properties for the future of our company, and to help our city land viable convention business. The renovation of the Archibald Cochran will only help entice convention planners to book their convention with the Galt House and our city."

$60 Million and Counting...
The hotel completed a $60 million dollar renovation from 2005 through 2008. The renovation updated all 1,290 guest rooms and 50 meeting rooms, added a beautiful Conservatory spanning the hotel's towers, and invested millions in restaurant updates and the addition of RIVUE, a rooftop restaurant. In early 2009, the hotel invested in flat screens televisions and updated bedding in guest rooms located in the SUITE Tower.
